How we work

Every step from the first chat to the reports after launch, in order.

  1. 1

    First chat

About 30 to 45 minutes. Tell us what your business does, who your customers are and what you'd like the website to do. If you already have a site, send us its address.

  2. 2

    What we heard

Within 2 working days, you get one page in your language: your goal, your pages, what you'll provide and what's out of scope. You tell us whether we've got it right.

  3. 3

A written list and a fixed price

We write down everything the site will include: the pages, both languages, the editor, the forms and the search set-up. You get one fixed price for that list before any work starts. You pay 50% when you confirm it, and the rest at launch.

  4. 4

    Your content first

You send your text, photos and logo, and access to your domain. The build starts once the content is in, and the dates on your list count from then: if content arrives late, the dates move by the same number of days.

  5. 5

    Three home page directions

Arabella designs three different directions for your home page, using your real content, as links you can open on your phone. We mark the one we'd pick and say why. You choose, and it sets the look of the whole site.

  6. 6

    Build

Eric builds every page in English and Chinese, sets up the editor and the enquiry forms, and puts the search basics in place. You can follow along on a preview link.

  7. 7

    Two review rounds

Round 1: you go through the whole site, in both languages, and send one full list of changes within 5 working days. Round 2 is for fixes and polish. Changes to the agreed pages and content are included; new pages or features go on a “later list” and are quoted separately.

  8. 8

    Check together before launch

We go through the finished site with you against your written list: every page in both languages, on a phone and a computer, the forms, the editor and your email.

  9. 9

    Launch

The site goes live on your domain, and the other 50% is due. Old addresses from a previous site redirect to the new pages, and if another developer looked after it, we take it over and plan the switch around your email.

  10. 10

    Handover

Every account is in your name, with Pista as a member. You get a step-by-step user guide for the editor.

  11. 11

    30 days of fixes

For 30 days after launch, if something we built doesn't work as your written list says, we fix it free. After that, changes are charged by the hour and quoted before we start.

  12. 12

Reports at month 1 and 3

A one-page report after the first and third months: how many people visited, how many clicked to enquire, how many forms were sent, and where visitors came from. We measure these numbers; we don't promise them.

How the price is worked out

One fixed price for your whole site, on your written list before any work starts.

  • What sets the price

How many fixed pages your site has, how many kinds of content you'll publish yourself (each gets a list page and a detail page), and how many first entries we load in for you.

  • What's free

Translation into your second language. Writing or rewriting your text isn't translation: you provide the words, or we quote the writing by the hour.

  • How you pay

50% when you confirm the list, and 50% at launch.

  • After launch

Changes are charged by the hour and quoted before we start. Pista charges no monthly fee.

Yours to keep

Some businesses find out too late that their website lives in someone else's account. With Pista, it's in yours from the start.

  • Accounts

Hosting, the editor and Google Search Console are opened in your name. Pista is added as a member, and you can remove us at any time.

  • Code and design

The design is yours, and the code that runs your site is handed over to you.

  • Content

Your words, photos and translations are yours, to keep or take wherever you like.
